After a really nice weekend, I had no interest in going to work on Monday. But as motivation, I told myself that if I got through the day, I’d be one step closer to enjoying my Grandma’s pie on Canada Day! It worked!
It was a pretty average work day, until I walked out of my office and ran into Adam! He came by to pick me up as a surprise!
He had a whole night planned for the two of us. We began our “Date Night” with some delicious Indian Food at Aroma on King and John! We were a little early for the dinner rush, so we pretty much had the whole restaurant to ourselves. It was nice to have a quiet sit down dinner to catch up. The only interruptions were some much needed updates from our server on the Germany vs. Algeria game that we were missing. Go Deutschland!
But that wasn’t all he had planned! After our amazing dinner, we walked over to the new Ripley’s Aquarium!! Wow… Now I’ve always wanted to be a mermaid, but after walking around the aquarium for the evening I was ready to hand in my legs for a pretty tail. The tanks were absolutely stunning.
And then it was Canada Day! To celebrate, Adam and I grabbed some Timbits and headed to my grandma’s house in Guelph to spend the day with my family! We watched the soccer game, and ate WAY too much food. My Grandma had quite the spread set out for everyone, and we finished off a delicious dinner with TWO different kinds of pie (it was worth the wait)! Then we drove back to Toronto for fireworks!
But it gets better! Because we went to see Brad Paisley at the Canadian Molson Amphitheater last night! A group of us bought lawn seats and enjoyed a night of country music and southern charm. Brad Paisley sounded excellent live, and did a great job of getting the crowd pumped up with his witty jokes about Canada at our expense. The weather was warm, and we were blessed with a beautiful orange sunset before the stars came out. Good friends, warm weather and Brad Paisley all in one night? Perfect.
One more work day to get through before the weekend, and already it is shaping up to be another great one. Adam and I are driving up to Muskoka to meet up with the rest of his family at their cottage!
What was the highlight of your week?
