Five Happy Things #8

This week felt like it dragged on forever… The weather has been so miserable that it’s put both Adam and I in a slightly grumpy mood. Which is why writing this post is probably a good thing! I need to remind myself of the nice things that happened during this week to distract myself from the fact that it was basically just a week filled with work and hiding from the rain and the cold. On that happy note, let’s get into the things that actually made me smile this week!

Lovely comments!

On Tuesday I published this post about feeling stuck which received a lot of feedback from people who are feeling the same way. It’s such a relief knowing that there are other people going through the same thing. The people that reached out offered amazing advice and support which gave made me so happy. I’m sending internet hugs to everyone becuase you guys made my day.

Tea by the sea!

Many people suggested that I should get out and explore somewhere new to help me feel better, so Adam and I made some tea and found a little rock spot by the ocean to sit for a couple of hours. It was overcast, slightly misty and cold but it definitely helped my mood. I felt so much more relaxed when we got home. There really is nothing better than living by the sea!

Inspiration!

I’ve been trying to read more often, and this week I picked up #GirlBoss after I finished The Martian. It is such a powerful book, and it has motivated me to work harder to make this blog something I am proud of. I’ve had more blog post ideas this week than I have in a long time! I think it was a great time to read it because of my lack of motivation and am so happy that I picked it up.

The sun!

After a couple weeks of steady rain, it was so nice to wake up to the sun on my face this morning! It made me realize how dark and cold our house has been the past few weeks. I was beginning to think that we had gone straight to fall from spring in Halifax. Apparently it’s going to stick around for the rest of the weekend and I can’t wait to get out and enjoy it.

Postcard!

When my friend from my Mandarin class moved back to Germany we promised each other that we would keep in touch the old fashioned way. I sent her a small note in the mail, and received a postcard back from her yesterday! It was so special to get a handwritten note in the mail, and I’ve already written a letter to send back to her. If you’re reading this, hey Saskia! 我爱你!

Well. I found a few things to be happy about! This is why it is important to reflect and focus on the positive. I can now finish the week off on a good note and tell myself that it wasn’t as bad as I thought!

Have a happy Friday everyone!

Sincerely, Rowan
