It was my very first day at a new school and I was terrified. I had just started Grade 5 and remember the day being a blur of new faces and the swirling numbers of my fancy new combination lock for my very own locker. That was 10 years ago, and my memories of that day and the weeks to follow are foggy at best. But one thing I know for certain about that first day of school was that I came home with Justina’s phone number written down on a scrap piece of paper.
I found out later that she only gave me her number because she wanted to be invited to be my birthday party. Typical. 10 years later she still loves planning a good party, and is always the first person to ask about the loot bags.
This year marks a huge birthday for Justina…. And not because she’s turning 21! After all the birthday’s she has helped plan for us, we finally had the chance to help her out with her very first birthday party! Annnnd of course, in typical Justina fashion she chose the theme of her party to be Barbie Princess.
So what do you do when a 21 year old wants a princess party? You get a giant castle bouncy castle of course!
Although Justina planned most of the party by herself, I did try to lend a hand with some of the decorations and took a couple pictures to remember the day. We put up enough pink streamers to make any
five yea–, sorry twenty one year old happy!
To have your very own sophisticated (adult) Barbie Princess birthday party you will need the following…
Princess Party Essentials
- A candy bar
- Pink everything
- Sparklers & glow sticks
- A Princess Pinata
- Party hats & crowns
- Gold (or pink) foil balloons
- Cute desserts
- Beautiful flowers
- Loot bags filled with yummy treats
- Pretty straws & pink cups for sophisticated adult drinks
- Pink Bouncy castle/waterslide
I honestly think that we basically just purchased everything pink from the dollar store and Party City….
Even Java dressed up for the occasion! Poor girl…. She just wanted to eat the prosciutto.
Justina, you will always be our beautiful princess. I hope you had an amazing 21st birthday! You fill our lives with joy and give us ab workouts every time you open your mouth. You make me laugh harder than anyone else!
I could definitely add in some questionable pictures from our middle school days, or even an audio recording of your cover of “California Girls”, but I won’t because I know you will send Rytis to find me, and no one wants to see my obituary in tomorrows paper. Instead, I will sign off and let everyone marvel at the beautiful blonde bombshell of a woman that you have become. There is no need to bring back your signature headband and hoop earrings combo from our Humbercrest days 😉
I love you with all my heart!
