#Trending: Blush Accents

blush tones

If you were to head on over to my Pinterest you’d probably feel like you put on a pair of rose coloured glasses because my boards are all coordinating in a soft colour scheme of blush, white and grey. This trend has taken over the design world, especially after “Rose Quartz” was named one of the Pantone colours of 2016. I love how this rosy colour adds softness and femininity to the minimalist design craze, and would love to find ways to add it to my home.

Introvert or Extrovert?

introvert

Like most people I would say that my personality has changed a lot since high school. In high school, I found myself surrounded by groups of friends more often than I found myself alone. Even when I was home I was surrounded by people. I shared a bedroom with my little sister all through high school making it difficult at times to have alone time… Especially with someone as chatty as Isabella around all the time. If you had asked me then if I was an introvert or extrovert I would have said extrovert without skipping a beat… But now I’m not so sure.

Friday Feeling | 9

happy things

Happy Friday! I hope everyone is enjoying their very first week of summer! Last week I spent a lot of time complaining about the dreary weather in Halifax, but this week has been beautiful! It’s such a pity that I work during the day because I usually miss most of the hot sun, but I’m trying to get out as much as possible anyway. The sun has already put me in a better mood, and it prompted me to get out a lot more this week!

Dear Dad

Dear Dad,

Happy Father’s Day! I hope you had an amazing day.

I’m already tearing up a little bit as I try to find the words to say. Typical.

As usual, I’m hundreds of kilometres away on a day that is meant to celebrate you and the joy you bring to our lives. I’ll do my best to tell you how much you mean to me as I sit here wishing that I could just apparate to wherever you are to give you a big hug.

Friday Feeling | 8

This week felt like it dragged on forever… The weather has been so miserable that it’s put both Adam and I in a slightly grumpy mood. Which is why writing this post is probably a good thing! I need to remind myself of the nice things that happened during this week to distract myself from the fact that it was basically just a week filled with work and hiding from the rain and the cold. On that happy note, let’s get into the things that actually made me smile this week!

Feeling Stuck

stuck

There always comes a point in the school year, or the summer that I start to feel restless and stuck. I remember the first time I felt this way was when I was about 13 and had just graduated from elementary school. It was mid-July and I felt restless, irritated and just plain bored with everything that was going on. I expressed my frustration to my Mom and she just told me that feeling stuck was a good thing. I thought she was absolutely crazy until she continued on with this train of thought and said that feeling stuck means you are ready for the next step. And I think she was right. I was at a point in my life when I was ready for something bigger. Moving on up to high school was this next step.

My New Business Cards

cards

I wasn’t exactly looking to order business cards, but was extremely bored on one of the many rainy days we experience in Halifax and somehow found myself on the Vistaprint website. Buying business cards had been on my to-do list for a little while but I couldn’t decide what I wanted them to look like. I initially thought that I would make a design from scratch on Picmonkey and then import it, but decided to take a quick peek around the vistaprint designs to see if I liked any of them. And then I saw exactly what I didn’t know I wanted. A beautifully simple watercolour design in blush pink. Well… I’m sure you can guess what happened next.

{By the way, this post is totally not sponsored… I’m just really excited about my business cards.}

DIY Painted Globe

globe

I have been dreaming about the beautiful painted globes that are all over Pinterest for months! I knew I wanted to try it out for myself when I saw this little globe at a Value Village back in April. The globes people sell on Etsy or Anthropologie are upwards $200 and my little globe was $1.99 plus the cost of paint. Not a bad deal right? I had so much fun making the globe, and thought I’d show you guys exactly how I did it!

5 Ways to Survive a Bad Day

Guess where I am right now!….. If you guessed that I am sitting on a pile of pillows in a blanket fort you would be correct! Today was a little rough, but sometimes indulging a bit and getting silly is the best way to lift my spirits. Nothing dramatically life changing happened, and I didn’t receive bad news or anything but I was still feeling under the weather and a little bit moody (okay lot moody…). Although my current predicament has been happening once a month for about 8 years (if you catch my drift), there are many many reasons why one may be having a bad day. Once I accepted that I was feeling off and needed a break for the day, I started to feel a little bit better. Here are some of the things I did to keep myself feeling human.
