Before we got to Savannah I made a list of restaurants to check out so that we would know where to go. We were only there for one night and didn’t get to check them all out, but we did try a few places that were really good!
On our first night in Savannah, we decided to walk around to see if we would stumble upon anything on my list. As we walked down River Street we passed many pubs and little restaurants, but decided to eat on the patio at the Bohemian Hotel. I love that we were able to sit right on the cobblestone streets to watch the boats go by and people watch. We decided to eat dinner at around 5:00 because we were starving, which meant that no one else was there and our food came out ridiculously fast!
We ordered caesar salads with truffle fries to start. The salads were amazing, and I love how they put fresh cherry tomatoes in it! The truffle fries were also amazing. They were topped with a light dusting of Asiago cheese and parsley with garlic ketchup on the side. We hadn’t had much to eat since we left at 9:00 that morning and it was hard to wait for pictures before digging in.
Next up, Adam and I both ordered pizza. I ordered their classic pizza with pepperoni and cheese, and Adam decided to be a little more adventurous than me (okay a lot more adventurous) and ordered their Farmer’s Harvest pizza with roasted vegetables, goat cheese and arugula.
After an early dinner, we were both pretty full. But as we walked back towards our hotel we walked passed Leopold’s ice cream shop and couldn’t pass it up. Everyone said that Leopolds was the best ice cream in town, and it did not disappoint! My dark chocolate raspberry ice cream was smooth, delicious and creamy.
It was a long day of driving, walking around and eating good food. Everything was going so smoothly and theeeeeeen…. The camera died. Urhhh… And apparently I didn’t pack the charger or extra batteries! There is a reason why I added these crucial things in my Road Trip Essentials post… It was about 8:00 in the evening and we decided to drive to the closest Target to find something. When we got to Target we met Patrick in the electronics department and he helped us find a charger that would work for us! He was so helpful and even took the charger out and tested it with my battery to make sure it worked. What a relief! We brought it home with us and got our battery ready for the next day. I was so grateful I wrote Patrick a little note and a thank you at the customer service counter in Target. Thanks Patrick!
The next day we headed straight for Mirabelle’s Cafe for waffles because SO many people recommended it online. It was only a 10 minute walk from our hotel and was the sweetest little breakfast nook I’ve ever seen.
Adam and I had a lovely chat with the people working at Mirabelle’s who were so surprised that we sought them out! It’s so nice when business get the support they deserve, and the staff at Mirabelle’s went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely morning. We went after the usual morning rush, and had the entire place to ourselves to enjoy our waffles and the quiet French music playing throughout the cafe.
While we waited for our waffles, Adam ordered an iced coffee and I had fresh lemonade with lavender. I think we both just sat in silence sipping our drinks and looking around the cute cafe feeling happy and relaxed. And then the waffles arrived… Oh my goodness.
We both ordered waffles with fresh strawberries, nutella and whip cream. My mouth is watering as I stare at the pictures of our glorious breakfast. I couldn’t have asked for anything more!
After another few hours of walking around Savannah, we packed up our bags and headed for Tybee beach before heading home.
We had an amazing time in Savannah walking around the historic streets and indulging on delicious treats. It was a lovely vacation for just the two of us, and I can’t wait to go back for some more fun!
